HomeMy WebLinkAboutNavigable WaterwaysCITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA R E S 0 L U T I O N , WHEREAS, the City of Sebastian is vitally interested in the Sebastian River Waterway extending from the Indian River to Blue Cypress Lake within Indian River County, Florida, and WHEREAS, .the City of Sebastian is interested that said waterway be kept navigable so that small boats may be able to use the same, ~and WHEREAS, .the City of Sebastian deems it in the best public interest of the boating public and for the attraction of tourism that said waterway be kept navigable, and WHEREAS, the City of Sebastian desires to express its opinion relative the navigability of the Sebastian River; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Sebastian, by and through its City Council, as follows: 1. That the City of Sebastian go on record in respectfully requesting that the Sebastian River Waterway extending from the Indian River to Blue iCypress Lake within Indian River County, Florida, be kept navigable for small boats by the fuse of locks. 2. That it is the understanding of the City of Sebastian that the Corps of Engineers have designated Canal #54 relative a study for navigability of said waterway. 3. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to The Honorable Spessard L. Holland, United States Senator, United States Senate, Washington, ~D. C.; Col. R. P. Tabb, District Engineer, U. S. Corps of Engineers, P. O. Box 4970, Jacksonville, Florida; Mr. W. Randolph Hodges, Director, Florida State Board of Conservation, Tallahassee, Florida; and Mr. Riley S. Miles, Chairman of Board of Governors, Central and South Florida Flood Control District, 901 Evernia, West Palm Beach, Florida.
