HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY!
Bell South Telecommunications A.qreement
Earlier this week, the City of Sebastian resumed negotiations with Bell
South in effort to commence with the development of a permanent
telecommunications tower in the community. You will recall this issue
having been discussed several months ago, without progress. However,
numerous meetings and telephone conferences have since transpired with
David Herring of Site Concepts Inc., the representative contracted by Bell
South to work with our administration on this issue. I expect a proposal to
be delivered by Mr. Herring, from Bell South in the comings days, as staff
looks forward to presenting a proposed agreement in the coming weeks for
your consideration and authorization.
Greyhound Bus Stop in Sebastian
In recent months, Greyhound Bus Lines made the decision to discontinue
busing services out of the City of Sebastian. Since that time, a number of
citizens have expressed an interest to resume a bus stop in the community.
Such an arrangement makes sense, by virtue of the fact that buses leaving
Veto Beach drive through Sebastian via United States Highway #1 (US1).
As such, I spoke to Mr. Carlos Rogers, Greyhound Area Representative
(Orlando Office) about the possibility of hosting a future meeting to discuss
the likelihood of resuming said service in Sebastian. I expect to hear back
from him in the coming days to schedule this arrangement. Allegedly,
discontinuance of this service was the result of numerous complaints
launched by businesses located along US1. I would appreciate any input
about this matter, as well as your opinions and/or thoughts.

Out of Town
Please be advised that I will be out of town from Thursday, November 25th
(Thanksgiving Day) until Sunday, November 28th. The purpose of my
departure is to visit family and friends back in Chicago, Illinois (a sort of
homecoming if you will). This will be my first trip back to my hometown in
nearly three years. As you can imagine, although it will be a short trip, my
wife June and I are both looking forward to it. As such, no information letter
will be delivered next week. I will be available all weekend, as well as during
the first three days of the business week, both at the office and home.
However, should an emergency arise whereby any of you would require to
speak to me while I am away, attached you will find a business card, with
the address and telephone number of my family's home in Chicago (NOT
FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION - CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS ONLY)! Wish
us a safe flight, both to and from the Windy City.
