TREE AND LANDSCAPE ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 2004 - 5:30 P.M.
Chairman Fulton called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

APPROVAL OF DECEMBER 1, 2003 MINUTES
MOTION Albury/Cardinale
VOICE VOTE on the motion carried 4-0
"1 make a motion to approve the December 1, 2003 minutes."
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
There were no announcements.
OLD BUSINESS:
Arbor Day 2004
Suggestions were made for the theme of the celebration and it was decided that
"Trees For Life" would be good. It was mentioned that the schools wanted to
stay away from doing "poster contests". There was discussion as to different
contests and what the prizes would be. There will be a Coloring Contest for
grades K - 3'~ and a Photo/Essay Contest for 4th - 6th. Chris McCarthy will check
with the City Manager to see if the City would buy treelings as giveaways for the
public. Four (4) trees will be planted for Arbor Day. The Board's Recording
Secretary will send a draft outline of what was decided for Arbor Day. There are
only three (3) regular meeting before the event. Everyone should try to ddve by
the park to get a feel for the area.

Champion Trees
It was mentioned that Ann Dann knows a man that has a Duncan Grapefruit
Tree. Charles will contact Ann to see if we can get permission to go on his
property to look at the tree sometime in February.
Update on Butterfly Garden - Lynn Albury
Lynn Albury to attend a Club meeting the week of January 12th. She will give us
an update at our next meeting. The Butterfly Garden will be at Hardy Park.
NEW BUSINESS:
Regarding the new / revised Land Development Code. We, the Tree Advisory
Board, gave our recommendations to P & Z then it goes on to the City Council at
their big meeting. Henry Madsen thought that it was going to be in April. Donna
will find out when the meeting will be.
MEMBER MATTERS:
Chairman Fulton mentioned that the pine tree in the courtyard needs to be
trimmed. Chris McCarthy said that everything in the courtyard was handled by
John Almada. Chris will handle. Charles Cardinaie asked about the
bougainvillea that was on the side of City Hall. Chris said it was moved to
Schumann Drive and was doing well.
STAFF MATTERS:
There were no staff matters.
ADJOURNMENT:
Chairman Fulton adjourned the meeting at 6:29 p.m.
