As referenced in the electronic mail message as compiled and delivered per my direction by Airport Director Jason Milewski, a construction trailer was positioned at the project site last week to house both project management staff from Holland Builders and airport staff for the duration of the project. Plans are also being made to host a groundbreaking ceremony, tentatively scheduled to take place Tuesday, June 29th. I anticipate being able to inform you as to exact time and other logistics arrangements involving the event in the coming days. Meanwhile, any of you may also feel free to therefore provide any ideas that you may have as to how to make the ceremony as eventful and memorable as possible. Initiation of Louisiana Avenue Revitalization Pro.qram Earlier this week, my office hosted a meeting involving various staff member and representatives from both city commissioned grant administration consulting firm Jordan and Associations and WCG NeeI-Schaffer Engineers to discuss initiation and implementation of the Louisiana Avenue Neighborhood Revitalization Program. I am pleased to report that the City of Sebastian was provided direction via this discussion (and update to the State of Florida's Community Development Block Grant administrative authority, the Department of Community Affairs) to proceed with the necessary selection process to commission a contractor to assist with construction activities accordingly. As referenced in the Louisiana Avenue Project Update synopsis as faxed by Jordan and Associations after the City Council Information Letter June 4, 2004 Page 2 aforementioned discussion, we currently anticipate advertising this project beginning circa June 15th so as to administer a respective bid opening in mid July. This schedule would enable staff to offer applicable recommendations to City Council in late July and/or early August. If construction contract(s) are approved, a formal Notice to Proceed is to be issued by late August. Architectural Renderin.qs for Various Park Projects As City Council recently authorized a continuing services contract with Dean-Donadio and Associates for architectural services governing future City of Sebastian projects and programs, please be advised that staff is currently working to assign compilation of conceptual design and drawings to feature and showcase potential improvements to Riverview Park South, Bryant Court Park and Easy Street Park. Once completed, renderings will be utilized in respective contractodconstruction firm selection processes as the basis for scope of improvements. However, prior to engaging this exercise, presentations to both City Council and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee will be offered in an effort to provide public updates, as well as to secure formal direction to proceed accordingly and/or make adjustments to plans as deemed appropriate. Respective recommendations and other updates regarding these services will therefore be offered in the coming weeks. Old Snowshoe House Relocation Pro.qram As a location has been selected for the future site of the Old Snowshoe House, please be advised that staff from both the Building Department and the Parks and Recreation Division of the Department of Public Works will administer respective relocation activities to take place in the coming weeks. This exercise will involve selection of a structure-moving agent, staking and outlining the specific site in Riverview Park South for positioning the building, acceptance and approval of ownership transfer agreement, as well as applicable expenditure authorizations for City Council consideration for authorization. Current property owner David Brown has been very well advised as to the status of progress accordingly, as he is also being most cooperative with the City of Sebastian in this regard.
