HomeMy WebLinkAboutEXECUTIVE ORDER 04-03Executive Order No. 04-03 WHEREAS, the damage to roofs in the City exceeds the capacity of local contractors to repair the same in a reasonable time; and WHEREAS, state-qualified roofers are already allowed to ply their trade within the City upon registration, but the unprecedented amount of hurricane damage statewide has made assistance from this quarter unlikely; and WHEREAS, the City has the authority to extend its licensing authority to out-of-state contractors on a temporary basis for "Specialty Contractor" licenses that are not normally required to register with the State; and WHEREAS, "Metal Roofing Contractor" is one such category of "Specialty Contractor" that can be authorized on a temporary basis, and is needed in the community; ACCORDINGLY, under the authority vested in me as City Manager under the existing State of Emergency Operations, I issue the following Executive Order: 1. The City may issue temporary licenses for out-of-state Metal Roofing Contractors under the following circumstance and only upon satisfaction of all conditions set forth herein: a. The out-of-state contractors wishing to obtain this license will need to provide proof of competency from their original jurisdiction, as well as provide proof of workman's comp, liability and property damage insurance in amounts otherwise required by City Code and State Statute b. Issuance of this type of license will terminate on November 13, 2004, and the license will be in effect for 90 days from date of issuance. However, a Licensee will be allowed to complete any job with a valid pending building permit that they pulled. 2. A license holder shall have a copy of the license available on the job site for inspection at all times. 3. This license may be revoked if the City Building Official in his sole discretion determines that it is in the public interest. Nothing herein shall establish a vested right to the continued use of the license. ORDERED this~/q'/~day of October, 2004.
