MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY CHAIRMAN ROBERT FITZMAURICE AT 2:00 P.M.
PRESENT: CHAIRMAN ROBERT FITZMAURICE, VICE CHAIRMAN EARL WITHERBY, MARTIN
LEWIS, GEORGE McCLEARY, GEORGE LA PORTE, PETER TARBELL, GENE POPOW, BOARD
ATTORNEY GREGORY GORE.
MOTION BY MR. McCLEARY, SECONDED BY MR. LA PORTE, TO APPROVE THE MINUTES
OF THE MEETING OF JANUARY 12, 1983. CARRIED.
ATTORNEY GORE REPORTED THAT PURSUANT TO THE BOARD'S REQUEST HE SENT A
LETTER TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE ASKING IF WE CAN SPECIFICALLY
ESTABLISH JURISDICTION OVER CHARTERS 12 AND 16 OF THE SEBASTIAN CODE
RELATIONG TO GARBAGE, REFUSE, AND JUNK FOR CHAPTER 12, AND NUISANCES IN
CHAPTER 16. IT WILL PROBABLY TAKE TWO MONTHS TO GET AN OPINION.
CASE NO. 82-6 - BILLY ADAMS - CHAIRMAN FITZMAURICE ADVISED THAT CITY ATTORNEY
KILBRIDE HAS NOT HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO APPEAR IN PERSON OR SEND A LETTER
TO THE BOARD SO HE SUGGESTED THAT THIS MATTER BE CARRIED OVER UNTIL SUCH
TIME AS HE CAN BE PRESENT OR WE RECEIVE A LETTER.
MOTION BY MR. WITHERBY, SECONDED BY MR. TARBELL, TO EXTEND CASE NO. 82-6
OVER TO THE NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING. CARRIED.
THE BOARD SECRETARY WAS REQUESTED TO WRITE A LETTER TO THE CITY COUNCIL
ADVISING THEM THAT THE ONE YEAR TERMS OF MR. LA PORTER AND MR. POPOW WILL
EXPIRE IN MARCH. BOTH INDICATED A WILLINGNESS TO SERVE AGAIN (MR. LA PORTE
WITH THE PROVISO THAT IF ANYONE ELSE WAS AVAILABLE, HE WOULD STEP DOWN.)
MR. McCLEARY THANKED ROBERT DOHERTY, SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, AMD
EARL MASTELLER, CITY ENGINEER, FOR ATTENDING THE MEETING. THERE FOLLOWED
A GENERAL DISCUSSION ON THE DUTIES OF THE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD AND WAYS
BOTH MEN COULD COOPERATE IN CARRYING OUT THESE DUTIES. THEY BOTH INDICATED
THEIR WILLINGNESS TO HELP WHEREVER THEY COULD.
MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 2:45 P.M.
