HomeMy WebLinkAbout12132004 RECRecreation Committee Meeting Minutes City of Sebastian Recreation Advisory Committee December 13, 2004 Called to order by the Chairman: Roll Call: The following members were present William Ingui, Elizabeth Gray, excused, Jayne Barczyk, Jessica Keaton, excused Jeannie Jessup, and Michelle Merlin. Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy, Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of October 25, 2004 was made by Mrs. Barczyk second Mrs. Jessup Passed unanimously. Old Business: Chairman speaks regarding visit to City Council Mrs. Barczyk speaks regarding the council meeting. Chairman asks Chris about location and funding for the equipment. Chris says he is meeting with Terrence and the Finance Director on January 10th, 2005 regarding funding. He states possibilities could be Easy Street, Blossom, Bryant and Friendship Park. Mrs. Barczyk says she wants to see a full AN INTEGRATED playground not a segregated playground. Grant monies might be a possibility for funding. It is decided to put an ad in the paper for people to come to the workshop for special need playground ideas. Mrs. Jessup suggests a flyer be made. The workshop is set for Saturday January 29th from 9-11 am. The next regular meeting will be January 24th at SPM. Michelle and Jayne will go to the schools and let them know about the workshop. Mrs. Jessup will talk to her neighbor who has a special needs child at Wabasso School. The committee will review the information received at the workshop at their February meeting and go to City Council in March. New Business: None Input from the Public — None Members comments — None Staff Comments — Chris says lights have been repaired at the football field. New bleachers will be delivered on Wednesday. Council approval on Wednesday will be required for the new backstops at the ball fields. The holiday Tree is up on the River. The Caine house will be moved at 11 PM on Tuesday night. Mrs. Jessup asks if they should have a representative from the Wabasso School at the regular meeting in January before the workshop. She will see if she can arrange for someone to come.
