HomeMy WebLinkAbout02072005 TBHOME OF PELI~=AN ISLAND TREE AND LANDSCAPE ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7 - 5:00 P.M. Members practiced with tree sticks starting at 5:00pm. Chairperson Albury called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. ROLL CALL Members Present: Chairperson Lynn Albury Vice Chairperson Anne Dann Marsha Fusco Charles Cardinale Henry Madsen Members Excused: Mary Bennett Members Un.Excused: Ken Albrecht Staff Members Present: Donna Cyr, Recording Secretary APPROVAL OF MINUTES MOTION DantYCardinale VOICE VOTE on the motion carried 4-0 "1 make a motion to approve the January 13, 2005 minutes." ANNOUNCEMENTS: No announcements. OLD BUSINESS: Arbor Day Celebration Mrs. Huseman, representative from the Garden Club, attended the meeting and it was decided that they would provide cookies and beverages. If it's cold they will have coffee. They will need a couple tables and power. The Board secretary will make arrangements with Chris McCarthy to get these items. Sherry Hamlin from KIRB attended the meeting. It was decided that they would provide handouts and other goodies as well as any other literature about KIRB. They also will require two tables for the event. Ms. Hamlin will be attending the next meeting to finalize details. We should expect around 50+ people at the event. Tree Board Meeting February 7, 2005 Page 2 Marsha gave an update to the Board on Arbor Day. She has calls into both Ranger Hicks and Christine Kelly about speaking at Arbor Day. She has not heard back from either so she will call them both again. The Board reviewed and updated the invitation list. Marsha will check with Mary Bennett on an Invocation speaker. Changes were discussed regarding the art contest rules & regulation / permission slip. Charles will get with the Board secretary to make appropriate changes to the permission slip. After changes are made, the Board secretary will forward to Marsha to have copies made. Mary sent an e-mail stating that she got approval from Indian River School Board for the art contest. The Board secretary will let Mary know about the nine (9) pdzes that we will get from Macho and ask if the middle school is going to participate. After much discussion the Board agreed on requesting three (3) Live Oaks and three (3) Maple trees to be planted for the event. The Board secretary will let Chds McCarthy know of this request. The Board also asked if we could get some saplings to distribute to the public at the event. NEW BUSINESS: No new business. MEMBER MATTERS: No member matters. STAFF MATTERS: Board secretary, Donna Cyr, suggested that the Board start meeting in one of the conference rooms because it is hard to hear board member talking and everyone is so spread out. All board members agreed. It was decided that the May meeting will be held in one of the conference rooms. The board secretary will make the arrangements. 10.
