made by Mrs. Barczyk second by Mrs. Merlin passed unanimously.

New Business:
Chris gives a short discussion regarding the new parks and what was approved by City
Council. He also states that Riverview Park will get the improvements necessary to
complete the grant requirements, ie.Splashpad along with restrooms for changing etc.
He states that the bandstand will more than likely be a portable one that can be moved
around from place to place.
Mr. Ingui says he was told the Cain house cannot be designated for Grant Money — Chris
says he will check that and let them know at the next meeting.
Mr. Ingui wants to write a letter to This Old House TV show and see if they will restore
it. And will go before City Council with the letter for approval.
A fulltime recreation person is still in the budget for October 1St to assist Kathy Falzone
with programs. Making Recreation its own division won't happen this October.
The committee reiterated that a summer camp for kids should be top priority.
Discussion turns to a recreation center for the kids, and it was brought out that the Old
Walmart building would be a good location since it is adjacent to Riverview Park and
would also allow for additional parking areas for events at the park.
Mrs. Barczyk says there is a definite need for this building and she wishes the council
would see the big picture. She also stated that this would be her last meeting since she
and her husband were moving out of state.
The committee wants the Council to give the PW and Engineering offices to the
Recreation division when they are vacated for additional programs and office space etc.
He will write a letter to council to be discussed by the committee at the next meeting for
this request and the new building for a community center. Mrs. Keaton says the City
could make a lot of money on such a building by renting it out on the weekends. She
stated the Prom alone paid $4800 for one night to use the Heritage Center.
Chris stated that Barber Street will get a soft surface and special needs equipment for
Friendship park both of which are still in the budget for next year.
The two new parks at Bryant Court and Easy Street will have soft surfaces.
Member Comments: Jessica asks about the status of the guardrail on Barber Street near
Hardee Park. Chris states he will have parks do it since he can't seem to have stormwater
schedule it.
The Yacht Club needs to be more boater friendly would like to see more tie ons or a latter
to unload
Mrs. Barczyk reads her letter of resignation to the board.
