Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes
City of Sebastian
Recreation Advisory Committee
January 23,2006
Called to order by the Vice-Chairman:
Roll Call: The following members were present
Michelle Merlin, Gary Barth, Kevin Miller, Jessica Keaton, Jeff Kagan,
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary,
Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of December 5th, 2005 was made
by Mr. Miller, Second Mr. Barth passed unanimously.
Old Business: Cain House - Report from Mr. Miller
Mr. Miller says he was attacked at the meeting and caught off guard. Lisanne called the
next day to apologize for attacking him. Resident came up after the meeting interested in
being the one to pay for renovations and rent it out. He said that now Lisanne understands
what our thoughts were. Mr. Miller says lets quit talking about this and let the council
have it.
New Business; Elect a new chairman
Mr. Miller was nominated by Mrs. Keaton 2nd by Mrs. Merlin passed unanimously
Discussion turned to the letter from Mrs. FaIco-Di Corrado
The committee recommended that the landscaping such as potted plants with big planters,
new lights be addressed and possibly installed. Also they felt the city should look into
plants for the canopy area that would survive. Perhaps the Garden club could be asked to
install and take care of the plantings. Would like to see the Riverview Park master plan.
Member Comments: Jessica wanted to know what Jordan Park was and its use?
She felt Gazebos and picnic tables for people to watch the river would be good there.
It was determined that a field trip in March to all the parks developed and undeveloped
should be done.
The committee wants a map of all parks, a list of parks, Will do the field trip at the March
20th meeting.
Mrs. Keaton reported that the fence is up at Hardee Park that she asked for but there are
still no signs at the community center for traffic control.
Mrs. Keaton agrees to be the representative for District A so an at large member can be
found.

The committee would also like to see the plans for Easy Street and Bryant Court Park and
be given an update on all parks.

Public Input: None
The next meeting is set for February 27th at 5:00 PM in the council chambers.
The March meeting will be March 20th, 2006
