Recreation Advisory Committee
February 27, 2006
Called to order by the Chairman:
Roll Call: The following members were present
Michelle Merlin, Gary Barth, AE, Kevin Miller, Jessica Keaton, AE, Jeff Kagan,
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy, Parks
and Recreation Superintendent
Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of January 23, 2006 was made by
Mrs. Merlin, Second Mr. Miller passed unanimously.
Old Business: NONE
New Business: 1) Mr. Miller gives a brief discussion regarding the backup materials and
spoke about a meeting he had regarding the community center project with the City
manager and others.
2) The committee went over the list of existing parks and decided which ones they would
tour:

Easy Street Park

Jordan Park
4)
Community Center
5)
Keen Terrace
6)
S. Wimbrow
7)
Bryant Court
8)
Filbert St.
9)
Stonecrop
3)Mr. Miller says Vero Beach is sending surveys about recreation. Maybe we could do
the same. All of our meetings will be shown on TV shortly and the public will be
informed that way. Chris says he could run an ad for a Saturday workshop if the
committee wants to hold one. Invitations could be sent to all organizations to attend. Mrs.
Merlin says we could do an article for the Pelican Brief.
4) Mr. Miller wants to hold a joint meeting in the summer with Vero and the County
A motion to approve a joint workshop was made by Mr. Kagan, scond Mrs. Merlin
passed unanimously. Will be discussed further at a later meeting.

Public Input: None
Member Comments: Mrs. Merlin asks about the recreational requirements in the comp
plan.
The next meeting is set for March 20, 2006 at 5:00 PM in the council chambers.
