BOARD MATTERS:
1) Violation Hearing Fines - Currently $500.00
Following a brief discussion, the Board was in agreement that a maximum fine up to
$5,000.00 per violation be assessed against the contractor being brought before the
Board.
2) Means to collect fines
Attorney Stringer said there was really no way to collect fines. If they are a contractor
you can suspend their privileges.
There was a discussion concerning the Construction Board sponsoring the exams for
anyone who wanted to be tested. Looking at the fees being charged and administrative
costs, the Board felt money was being lost.
VC Morris suggested that we sponsor only for Sebastian residents and let Indian River
County take over sponsoring everyone else and eventually sponsor Sebastian as well.
3) Application fee - currently $75.00
The following is the fee schedule discussed and voted on by the Board to give to the City
Attorney to do a resolution for approval by City Council:
New Application - $175.00
Master 100.00
Journeyman 100.00
License Renewal 50.00
Reciprocity Letter $25.00
Reg. Cert. Contractor 25.00
Inactive Fee 50.00
Reactivation Fee 25.00
License not renewed in over a year - $175.00
Not renewed in over 3 years - back to square one
