New Community Center
Mr. Miller says would like to discuss the location first then amenities should be next.
Kathy Falzone speaks to the committee and gives a list of classes. Says needs a building
with appropriate flooring -large kitchen facilities, storage is essential, large stage foir
performances, acoustics, dressing room, hurricane shelter if necessary this building
should be multi functional.
Public Input: Kristen Beck -Collier Club -Sebastian River Says the canoe launch at S I O
doesn't work and the Sebastian River should be a part of any location we choose.
Micky Greppler - I am a 12 or 15 year arobic person and prefer to have a wooden floor.
Would like to have the old Community Center saved and not torn down The new one
should be west of 512 feels the location is good on the old one.
Mr. Miller states that demolition of the old building is not one of our recommendations.
Mrs. Falco wants to know if we can just add a second floor.
Mrs. Keaton disagrees with her and feels current facility will not hold large functions and
the new one should be designed for it
Mrs. Greppler wants only a work out center doesn't need basketball - Mrs.Keaton says
the community Center needs to serve everyone not just exercise classes.
Eugene Wolf - Wimbrow Drive Impressed with Kathy Falzone. Need land for the size
building we are talking about. A modular idea is crucial, land is crucial feels selling the
current property is short sighted.
Mr. Miller says there is no need for duplication of services.

Micky Greppler says use the old school building -The building is closed for renovation
and then almost fully rented.
Property Recommendation
The committee will not recommend the City Garage area due to traffic problems and
safety concerns.
Mr. Miller goes through the list of possibilities knocking down old Council Chambers
and rear building and putting it there would be a good location. Or the 33 acre tract on
Tracy Drive. The council declined to buy the old Walmart for 3.3 million
Kevin feels over 5 acre tract would be required. Mr. Barth feels that is not enough
A motion to recommend 33 acre tract off Tracy Drive for the New Community Center to
look at modular concept for expansion and attempting to not duplicate services, by Mr.
Barth
Mr. Kagan adds keep current community center as auxiliary facility for programs. Mrs.
Keaton amends it to add that the City move forward with the new flooring and parking
improvements at the old community center because it would be 2 years before new
building built. Mr. Barth accepts the amendments second by Mr. Miller passed
unanimously.
