HomeMy WebLinkAbout09252006 RECRecreation Committee Meeting Minutes City of Sebastian Recreation Advisory Committee September 25, 2006 Called to order by the Vice-Chairman: Roll Call: The following members were present Mr. Miller, excused absence Mr. Barth, Mr. Kagan, Mr. Wright, Mrs. Keaton, Mrs. Falco, Mr. McCarthy, Absent Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy, Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve the minutes of July 24, 2006 by Mr. Barth second Mr. Wright, passed unanimously Old Business: None New business: Dog Park Discussion Linda Scott 821 Dunn Terrace in favor of park says too far to go to Vero Doesn't have to be big but should be set up for big and little separate -Membership yearly fee- participation in policing- should have checks on temperaments and vaccinations- shade area There is no shade area in Vero Dog Park also should have water access for dogs would be willing to work with committee 581-8264 Debbie Kimberlary 610 Breakwater -Vero Park has no fence in favor of shade fencing and water. Mr. Kagan says not in favor of bringing his dog to the park. Mrs. Scott says set up a panel- evaluate dogs who want to be a member that way can check for shots and socialization skills. Mrs. Falco asks what is a good fee -Mrs. Scott say $100.00 per year Member Comments: Mr. Kagan feels $100 is excessive Mr. Barth says thinks it should be no fee park -city will furnish water and bags release form for vaccination records Staff Comments: Bryant Court park -Playground ordered and marked out -Walking trail and removal of dead trees and brush underway Parks and Recreation Minutes September 25, 2006 Page Two Blossom already cleared Playground ordered. Easy Street is Finished. Riverview Park -Lights will be turtle friendly. Mrs. Falco asks what about gas lighting -Would require redoing the specifications. Stonecrop -Will remove pepper trees, signs and mulch trail install split rail fence. Chris talks about this years items - Hardee Trail to be raised up and a playground installed. Schumann Tennis -Hurricane repair of racquetball court and %2 basketball court Mr. Wright says hope we bring it up to current codes.
