January 130`, at 10:00am Neil Lagin, Mary ,Maureen Cummings and Lynn Albury met at 412 Bywood St. to measure a tree. Neil will be getting the name and species of the tree for the Champion Tree List. After we measured the tree, since we had a quorum, we discussed Arbor Day. It was decided that we would have the ceremony on Sat., Apri1280i at a park that Chris chooses. Maureen will go to the SRMS and the Charter Middle School, Neil will go to Sebastian Elementary and Mary will go to Pelican Island Elem. Lynn will check with the art teacher at SRHS. The theme far the event will be "Trees are Terrific." Elementary school students will participate in an art contest, rules are the same as last year, they may draw any kind of tree they want, the size should be no larger than 12" x 18" and they can use any medium, ex. crayons, paint, markers, etc. Mary will look for last years form and Lynn will look for rules for the photo contest and get it to Maureen. Everyone except Lynn Albury went to Maureen's house to measure another tree. We adjourned the meeting at this location at 11:30am. Neither Neil nor I had a form to write the info on. 5 heads 14' tall 17"-23" circumference 8' across for average of canopy this is a good specimen tree This was a very unusual tree to measure.
