Chairperson Albury called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 2. Pledge of allegiance was recited. 3. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Chair Lynn Albury Vice Chair Mary Bennett Maureen Cummings Neil Lagin Members Excused Absent: David Rodriguez Cynthia Schuster (a) Unexcused Absent: Matthew Sims (a) Staff ~ Council Members Present: Chris McCarthy, Parks & Recreation Superintendent Rebecca Grohall, Growth Management Director Margie Reynolds, Planner Donna Cyr, Recording Secretary 4. APPROVAL OF NOVEMBER 6.2006 MINUTES On MOTION by Ms. Bennett and SECOND by Mr. Lagin, the November 6, 2006 minutes were approved on a voice vote of 4-0. 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Introduction of Margie Reynolds the new Growth Management Environmental Planner. She is doing field inspections. Ms. Grohall told the Board that Ms. Reynolds would be working on new developments. Any existing homes that have problems are done through Code Enforcement. 6. OLD BUSINESS: Recap of Champion Tree Clinic - Mr. Lagin thanked the Board for all their help and said the event was successful. Commercial Landscape portion of LDC -The list that Growth Management presented at the meeting was reviewed and discussed at length (see attached). There was discussion on what trees really would grow in this area. It was determined that palms will stay on the tree list. Growth Management is going to start working on a Brazilian Pepper eradication program. After much discussion, Growth Management will revise the list from this meeting. After the Code is reworded Growth Management will send it back to the Tree Board for review at the February meeting. Then the revised Code will go to Planning & Zoning for their approval. Ms. Bennett left the meeting at 6:51 pm. 7. NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Lagin told the Board that a winner of the pizza certificates had a problem when they went to use it. He will handle the situation. Ms. Cummings asked questions regarding the status of Arbor Day. Because of the late date she would like to start contacting the local schools. It was decided that she would contact the high school and the Charter school. Mr. Lagin would contact Sebastian Elem.; Ms. Albury would contact the middle school, and Ms. Bennett could contact Pelican Island School. Mr. Lagin will start working on prizes. The board secretary would get a letter to Ms. Cummings so she could take it to her schools. The tentative date of Arbor Day is Saturday, April 28th. (Tentative due to Gobi Fest & Earth Day) The site was not determined at this time. The contest will be a coloring contest for the younger grades and a photo contest for the middle 8~ high school. Deadline for the contest is March 22, 2007. 8. MEMBER MATTERS: Ms. Cummings would like to discuss missing meetings at the February meeting. 9. STAFF MATTERS: Stanley Dnben of 412 Bywood Avenue has a Pandamius Palm that he would like measured. The board secretary will call Mr. Driben to see if Saturday the 13th at 10:00 am will work for him. She will then email to board either way if the field trip is on. If the field trip is on then the board will go on to Ms. Cummings home and measure her tree. 10. PUBLIC INPUT: No public input. 11.
