TREE AND LANDSCAPE ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY, APRIL 2nd, 2007 - 5:30 P.M.
Chairperson Albury called the meeting to order at 5:33 p.m.
2. Pledge of allegiance was recited.

4. APPROVAL OF MARCH 5.2007 MINUTES
On MOTION by Mr. Lagin and SECOND by Ms. Schuster, the March 5, 2007 the
minutes stand approved as read on a voice vote of 5-0.
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS:
No announcements.
6. OLD BUSINESS:
Arbor Dav
Ms. Bennett updated the Board on Arbor Day. Reverend Carl Bray of Roseland
was contacted about giving the invocation because we hadn't heard from Father
Morrissey. Chairperson Albury updated the board on the status of the Color Guard.
She's still working with them but if necessary we would have a flag at the podium.
Council Member Dale Simchick was asked and accepted being a speaker. Mr. Lagin &
Ms. Bennett will go to the newspapers for advertising. There was discussion about who
was dealing with the schools. There was some confusion as to who was and should be
picking up contest entries. Ms. Cummings was working with the high school and middle
school. She will go and pick up the entries from the schools she had been dealing with.
IRNB gave us three $50 bonds. Ms. Bennett will be the MC of the event. A list of
contributors will be given to the Board secretary at the April 9th meeting. The Jr.
Women's Club (GFWC) gave a $50 donation for art prizes. Ms. Albury said that the
Women's Club will be giving money. It was decided to ask the City for $100 to be used
for prizes for the art contest. Chris from Shady Grove Nursery was asked to be a

speaker at Arbor Day. He will be unable to attend but gave a plant as a door prize. Ms.
Cummings is working on contest prizes also. The Master Gardner's will be at the event.
Mr. Lagin is waiting to hear back from KIRB. Beth Powell will be at the event. Ms.
Cummings will contact Dr. Baker about being a speaker. The Board secretary got the
information to complete the Champion Tree plaques. There will be two plaques
presented. Chairperson Albury will not be able to attend Arbor Day. The Master
Gardener's and KIRB will bring their own booths per Mr. Lagin. Mr. McCarthy will need
to bring the podium, chairs, and four tables for the Pelican Island Garden Club. The 20
seedlings will be given away as door prizes.
Review of Residential Landscape portion of LDC was postponed until May meeting.
Ms. Reynolds was in an automobile accident and was unable to attend.
7. NEW BUSINESS:
No new business.

8. MEMBER MATTERS:
Ms. Cummings asked about the Tree Board having a table at Earth Day in Vero Beach.
There was discussion on the confusion of both Earth Day's being the same day same
time. Mr. Lagin will contact Trish Adams that the Tree Board would like to have a table
at the Sebastian Earth Day. Mr. Lagin will be at Sebastian's Earth Day and Ms. Schuster
and Ms. Cummings will also help out. They will be handing out flyers for Arbor Day.
Ms. Bennett's term on the Tree Board will expire the end of April and she will not be
renewing her position. There was discussion on combining the Tree Board and the
Environmental Board. The current Tree Board wants to find qualified people to fill the
open positions on the Tree Board to help keep the board alive.

11. ADJOURNMENT:
Chairperson Albury adjourned the meeting at 6:33 p.m.
