OLD SCHOOL HOUSE CAFETERIA 1245 MAIN STREET, SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA 2. 3. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. ROLL CALL Present: Also Present: Trish Adams Vice-Mayor Sal Neglia Kristi Yanchis Environmental Planner Margie Reynolds Jim Slattery Recording Secretary Jeanette Williams Diane Powers Special Guest Bruce Zingman Ginny Koerner Pat Beckwith Todd Klitenic 4. EARTH DAY 2007 Bruce Zingman, Friends of St. Sebastian River, clarified that he passed on twenty donated bird houses from Herbert Kremer who originally donated the bird houses to hang in the Stormwater Park, however it is not open to the public yet so Vice-Mayor Neglia and Ms. Simchick asked for some houses for the Earth Day event. Mr. Zingman also offered the assistance of the Friends of St. Sebastian at the event in whatever capacity they could be utilized. Ms. Powers reported that she obtained a donation of water bottles made from corn material which is sold to the public at Publix grocery stores. Discussion followed on the various donations received by all the members. Ms. Adams then went over the exhibitors, and speakers. (list attached) The Planner said Keep Indian River Beautiful would like to have a booth which could be the table that was to be reserved for the United Methodist Church Kroegel statue bid invitations. The Planner said the pine cone booth should be the furthest from the snake exhibit. She also said Officer Poore would be in attendance with the police boat. The Vice-Mayor pointed out that Officer Poore should have a spot where he can leave quickly. Temporary Environmental Advisory Committee April 17, 2007 Page Two The Chair stated the Mayor planned to open the ceremony and she would be the mistress of ceremonies. She set up the schedule to have a talk, demonstration, talk, demonstration, etc. etc. with the band Hair Peace playing at the end. The Chair then went over the planned activities and how Mr. Slattery would present the bat box building. Mr. Zingman asked how the layout will be set up. The Chair said spots will be marked with taped numbers which will correlate with the list of exhibitors. The Chair suggested having a volunteer police the parking area and reserved spot for Officer Poore. She also suggested putting something to draw visitors nearest US 1. Discussion followed on the best way to make pine cone bird feeders; designating one member to be the shopper for supplies and materials; covering the tables with drop cloths; volunteer breaks; and making table signs. The Chair stated the US Fish & Wildlife Service GIS Specialist will make a map of Sebastian indicating all the conservation areas and it was her hope that this will exemplify the City's natural resources and encourage citizens to lessen their impact on these precious resources. In response to Mr. Zingman's inquiry as to how to hang the birdhouses, discussion followed with several suggestions. The Chair reported that Ms. Powers was able to have two hybrid cars come from the Toyota dealer. The Chair asked if anyone received permission to place signs advertising the event and if signs could go on City properties. The Chair asked if the merger of the Tree and Landscape Advisory Committee and the Environmental Committee should be discussed and the Vice Mayor said he didn't think it should be discussed and the Planner pointed out the agenda was set for Earth Day and the merger could be a future agenda item. 6.
