R-07-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA URGING CONGRESSMAN DAVE WELDON TO FULLY SUPPORT AND CO-SPONSOR H.R. 648 RELATING TO THE NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT OF 2001. WHEREAS, on January 8, 2002, President Bush signed into law the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, which applies to all school district and schools that accept federal Title 1 dollars; and WHEREAS, the School Board of Indian River County has had four years of operational experience in implementing NCLB; and WHEREAS, the School Board of Indian RiverCounty has identified improvements that could be made to NCLB that would eliminate barriers to full implementation of the federal law; and WHEREAS, in January Representative Don Young (R-AK) re-introduced legislation based on input from local school boards that would address concerns and improve the implementation of NCLB. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida urges Congressman Dave Weldon to fully support H.R. 648 by becoming a co-sponsor of the bill and be it further RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be sent to members of the U. S. Congressional Delegation. This resolution was moved for adoption by Councilmember Negiia .The motion was seconded by Councilmember vote was as follows: Simchick Mayor Andea B.
