SEBASTIAN CONSTRUCTION BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 30, 2007 - 7:00 P.M.
Meeting was called to order by Ch. Garland at 7:00 P.M.
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ch. Garland.

NEW BUSINESS: DISCUSS PRESENTATION FOR CITY COUNCIL TO BE
HEARD ON NOVEMBER 14, 2007. ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED:
1) CONTRACTOR LICENSING
2) DIRECTION OF CONSTRUCTION BOARD MEETINGS
The Construction Board has been polled numerous times and unanimously have
agreed that due to the current shortage of staff due to recent cut backs in the
Building Department and the financial gains and losses involved with sponsoring
contractor licensing, the Board will recommend to City Council that we should no
longer sponsor applicants for new contractor licenses within the city.
- Other concerns expressed by board members were to ensure that fines would be raised
from $500 to $5000. Building Official assured the board that this was part of a revised
ordinance already drafted by the City Attorney. Board members also discussed concerns
regarding means of collecting these fines and dealing with unlicensed contractor activity.
- The Construction Board agreed that meetings should be held no less than the 2"d Tuesday
of every Quarter. The Building Department will provide a reminder ca117-10 days in
advance of the meetings. Otherwise the Construction Board will meet as needed at the
direction of the Building Official.
