Stephen was born February 19, 1980 in Sebring, OH. Then at the age of 5 he and his family moved to Ocean City, ~~ ,, ~ ~ Maryland. Then in 1991 he moved to Sebastian, FL. ..._ Stephen graduate in 1998 from Sebastian River High '~ „ School where he studied marine Mechanics, and worked for Boats N Motors in Vero Beach, FL before changing his career to a Lineman for Advanced utility ~~` ~~~' ~ Services in Melbourne, FL. Stephen loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, diver, fisherman '~'"° and mud racer. Stephen was always the person you could go to help with our boat, house car and truck because he could do it all. Stephen touched so many people in so many ways that his imprint on our lives will never fade away. Our hearts are broken by this sudden and tragic loss of our beloved Stephen. We will hold him close to our hearts until the day we are fortunate to meet him again. Stephen was a devoted son, father and friend and he will be greatly missed by everyone that loved him. Stephen is survived by his son, Hunter Allen McMath of Indialantic, FL. His mother Kimberly (McDonough) McMath and his father David Allen McMath of Kenansville, FL. His girlfriend Rachel Ellis and her son Cory Stayton of Vero Beach, FL. His ex-wife Carmen McMath of Indialantic, FL, His grandparents Joan and Eugene McDonough of Sebring, OH, William and Laura McMath of Fellsmere, FL, great grandmother, Mildred (Granny) Sloat of Sebring, OH. As well as aunts uncles, cousins and too many friends to name as Steve was loved by everyone. Stephen was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, John Sloat of Sebring, OH. Stephen we love you and miss you, may God rest your soul. Memorial contributions may be made to the trust fund in Stephens name at First United Bank of Vero Beach, 1717 Indian River Blvd. Vero Beach, FI 32960. Stephen Allen McMath, 28, died while working as a contractor restoring power in Louisville, said his mother, Kimberly McMath of Kenansville. His company has set up a memorial fund for him at First United Bank, formerly Citrus Bank, 1717 Indian River Blvd., Vero Beach, bank officials said. Stephen McMath was a contractor for Advanced Utilities Services of Melbourne and was working in Kentucky to reconnect customers after Hurricane Ike brought gusts of wind up to 75 mph to the area. The accident happened Friday. Stephen Allen McMath, 28, died while working as a contractor for Louisville Gas & Electric, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. The Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Rita Taylor said the medical examiner called McMath's death consistent with electrocution, but autopsy reports still are pending, the newspaper reported. Funeral arrangements have not been finalized, said Rachel Ellis, McMath's girlfriend. McMath is survived by a son, Hunter, 7. When contacted Sunday, Ellis said she was not ready to talk about McMath's death. McMath was a contractor for Advanced Utilities Services of Melbourne, according to the newspaper, and was working in Louisville to help reconnect customers after Hurricane Ike brought gusts of wind up to 75 mph to the area. According to the Courier-Journal, Louisville Gas & Electric estimated 300,000 people lost power from the storm. McMath was working to restore power to the Lake Dreamland area when the incident happened about 8:30 p.m. Friday. McMath was taken to Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 9 p.m. McMath was one of 2,000 workers from 12 states working to get people reconnected, according to the Courier-Journal.
