Recreation Advisory Committee
October 27, 2008
Called to order by the Chairman: Roll Call: The following members were present
Mr. Wright, Ms. Brown, Mr. Seaman, Mrs. White, Mr. Sims
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy,
Approval of Minutes: 9-22-08 Motion by Mr. Seaman, Second Mrs. Falco passed
unanimously,
Old Business: Schumann Park -Chris says in the hands of engineering firm to see what
can fit with drainage requirements
Mrs. Falco arrives at 5:37 PM
Mrs. White turned in survey forms from the children at Pelican Elementary School
regarding the basketball court. There were 198 yes to 8 no.
Riverview Park The committee walked around the park looking at the pavilions and Mr.
Wright took pictures. Maintenance including tables, wood, lights for volleyball courts,
were all recommended by the committee.
The chairman requested that Rebecca be asked to come to the next meeting again. Also
poles on the pavilions are rusty can they be painted at least.
New Business:
Stormwater Park - St Johns to approve maintenance agreement for the park some
recommendations were fishing, benches, walking trail, exercise stations. Mrs. White says
she knows someone who writes grants and could ask her to come to a meeting.
Chris says we will be installing a handicapped parking space at Hardee Park

Chairman's matters: Were covered during the earlier discussions
Member Comments : Mr. Seaman says agrees with recommendation for the volleyball
court lights at Riverview Park
Mrs. Falco asks about the plants for Riverview park Chris says still waiting on irrigation
bids

Staff- Chris says benches and picnic tables have been installed at Periwinkle Park
Next meeting is on November 24thth at 5:30 PM
