Recreation Advisory Committee
November 24, 2008
Called to order by the Chairman: Roll Call: The following members were present
Mr. Wright, Mrs. White, Ms. Falco, Ms Brown, Mr. Seaman and Mr. Sims were absent
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy,
Approval of Minutes: 10/27/08 No minutes were approve due to lack of quorum
Mrs. Falco resigned from the committee effective immediately the reasons sited were due
to a lack of being able to get anything done after recommendations to council and
Rebeccas reluctance to work with the committee for colors at Riverview Park She then
left the building.
All agenda items were for discussion only due to lack of a quorum
Old Business: Riverview Park -Chris was asked about the recommendations to fix the
rust on the steel posts, the roof on the water pump, get lights for volleyball court, regular
maintenance of the tables, and where we stand with irrigation and landscaping
The tennis club was present to drop off revised plans for Schumann Park. They would be
happy with no new courts, resurfacing the old ones, fix the restrooms, put in shelters and
the basketball court.
The Stormwater park - Mr. Wright says could be a multiuse park, exercise trail with
stations, hiking, biking, fishing. A list of possible facilities was turned in by Jim
Sunnygas of 721 S Easy Street.
New Business: Dog Park -Chris asks the committee to look at a park site on Empress
and Caprona -all it would need is a fence since it is already cleared has many trees and
water is available to hook up to.
Community Center Mr. Wright feels it should be put next to City Hall and keep the
existing building for recreational classes use the new building for meeting rooms, a pool
table room, banquet room, Basketball and install kitchen facilities.
Public Input: Sal Neglia said now would be the time to start this building while
construction prices are low and materials are low.
Jim Sunnygas recommends that we take our existing parks and make them miniature
fenced in mini dog parks

Member matters: Joanne White said we need to look forward now so it will give people a
positive attitude.
Staff- Chris says light up night is December St" and the Christmas parade is December 6tH
at 6PM
Mrs. White asks about the farmers market again and Chris says will talk to City Manager
again about it.
Next meeting is on January 26tH, 2009 at 5:30 PM

Center
New Business: Farmers Market
