Recreation Advisory Committee
March 24, 2008
Called to order by the Chairman: Roll Call: The following members were present
Mr. Wright, Mrs. White, Mrs. Falcos, Mr. Kagan, Mrs Soloman, resigned
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy
Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve the minutes of February 25, 2008 by Mr. Kagan
second Mrs. Falco, passed unanimously
Old Business: Riverview Park improvements
Tin Roof
Benches
Flowers
Widen Sidewalk — stamp to look like bricks
New Signage
Butt Cans
Painting or staining of pavilions and add lights
Handball courts to be redesigned and put back at Schumann
Farmers Market — Cindi says she would be interested in taking over from Anita who
resigned. She will contact Chris and he will schedule a meeting with the City Manager
Use of the stage — policy is under review.
New Business: Don talks about ordinance impact fees passes out a handout
Chris says we need a new sports complex should look at buying land
Dog Park — Cindi asks where does it stand — Chris says still no decision on location
Cindi complains about spending one million for Main Street
Don says put Recreation Impact Fees back on the agenda next month.
Public Input:
Chuck Lever Says would like to hear what City manager has to say and the city attorney
about the impact fees.
Chairmans Matters: Went to Seminar — Great, well done. Need a clear purpose of reason
for being there.

Members Matters: Mrs. White says wasn't sure why they were here since
recommendations are not received well by council.
Cindi says she joined the committee to get Riverview Park fixed up but been here a year
and nothing has happened.
Jeff says No recommendations have been approved -except the dog park since he has
been here.
Don says ask the City Manager to be at the next meeting
Don asks Joanne to write an article for the Pelican Brief
Staff Comments: Chris talks about the Easter Egg Hunt and states there is a home show
this weekend. He states the 4`" of July is the next big event at the Park.
Next meeting is Apri128`", 2008 at 5:30 PM
Old Business for the agenda -Riverview Park, Handball courts, farmers market, park
stage, budget and ordinance for impact fees.
New Business: Discussion of major recreation needs, capital budget for Parks and
Recreation, Summary by year of when collected and spent
Talk about the Pelican Brief
