Recreation Advisory Committee -Special Meeting
March 23, 2009
Called to order by the Chairman: Roll Call: The following members were present
Mr. Seaman, Mr. Wright, Mr. Adams, Mr. Pelletier, Ms. Brown, Mrs. White and Mr.
Sims were absent for the roll call however they arrived later in the meeting
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy, Parks
Superintendent
Approval of Minutes: 2/23/09 Motion by Mr. Seaman second Mr. Pelletier Passed
unanimously
Old Business: Schumann Park -Specs completed should be out to bid 1 S` or 2°a week of
April
Riverview Park Sprinklers in by US # 1- 2 weeks to completion than plants will come
Stormwater Park -members want copy of the maintenance plan
Dog Park -Don says approved by City Council -approved by P & Z ready to build
Community Center -Keep on Agenda for long term consideration or a civic center
Ms. Brown asks what people are asking for
Don says a place for meetings, entertainment and multi use property
Farmers Market - No update in the hands of the City Manager
New Business: Easy St Park - no update -postponed
Input from the public:
Ronnie Hewitt boys and Girls Club -Wants an outdoor basketball court -will be boys
and girls club project in phases -Phase one is the court, phase two would be cover for the
court -hopes to have the court done by the summer of 2010. They will be asking for
funding from the city for Phase II, also will be asking the clambake festival for funding
Chairman's matters - Gives s brief review for the members who should up late
Joanne says she spoke to Ms. Coy about the Easy Street Park event waiting to hear back
Don says would it be worthwhile to do a mailing for each park

Mr. Sims asked if going door to door would be alright.
Would like to take a walking tour of the park to see where mitigation is going -Secretary
advised that it should be done on own time, causes a problem when meetings are not
taped.
Ask Dave Fisher to write up something on the mitigation
Add Hardee park to new business on the next agenda
Member Comments: Mr. Adams asks if wheel chairs can go around the poles on the
pedestrian bridges
Ms. Brown says people should be aware of each park in their neighborhood also says
moving to Washington DC and tonight is her last meeting
Mrs. White apologizes for being late
Mr. Seaman said he is glad the dog park is moving along
Mr. Sims apologized for being late and says it is an honor and pleasure to serve, would be
willing to speak to people regarding neighborhood parks - Mr. Wrights says we should
always talk to people when ever we can.
Mr. Pelletier had nothing
Staff Comments: Pelican Island Wildlife Festival was a huge success -Home and
Garden show is this weekend on Saturday and Sunday and the hook a kid on fishing
event for 4-14 year olds from 9-11 on April 4th and earth day is on 4-14-09 from loam to
4PM
Next meeting is 4-27-09
