Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes
Called to order by the Chairman: Roll Call: The following members were present
Mrs. White, Mr. Adams, Mr. Seaman, Mr. Danise, Mr. Sims and Mr. Van Arsdall were
absent excused and Mr. Pelletier was absent
Staff members present were Chris McCarthy, Parks Superintendent, Linda Kinchen,
Secretary
Approval of minutes: 1/25/10 Motion to approve by Mr. Seaman second Mr. Danise,
Passed unanimously.
Old Business: Website Info update Linda gives update
Catch and release signs Chris says city manager said no
Dog Park George Geiger gives update new bag dispenser and also new garbage can is
requested. Want to have a new dedication ceremony once the park has an official name
and recognize the student who named it. They will arrange for a trainer to give a seminar
at the park. They are concerned about young children running unsupervised. Parents
leaving the kids.
Sunny offers bamboo free to allow for shade for the dog park
Chairman asks Mr. Seaman what park he will adopt he says the Stormwater park
New Business: None
Public Input: Sunny asks if we could put a lost and found at Riverview Park maybe where
the wishing well is. Also no dogs in the playground signs wants to know if we can put a
small water bowl for the dogs and other animals at Riverview like they have at the dog
park and could he put up another squirrel box. Chris to take care of all of this.
Chairman's Matters: Asks about progress of the airport park chris says fence and play
things are ordered.
Members Matters: Mr. Danise says having a problems with skate boards at the tennis
courts. Chris says will ask the chief to step up patrols also he would like to have a copy
of the comp plan. Wants to know if the city is a member of the National parks
Association wants to make a motion that we join second Mr. Seaman passed
unanimously. Will write a letter to Mr. Minner regarding this matter. Would like to be
the representative so he can get money from different tennis associations says wants to be
up on the dias again doesn't like having his back to people.

Mr. Adams Okay with the table down front Asked if motor home is gone from
Riverview Park.
Mr. Seaman has nothing
Staff: 2 day art show this weekend and little league opening day a success. Also March
5 is the concert in the park and March 13 Pelican Island Wildlife festival.
Joanne says about parking for little league when construction on Barber Street starts
Chris says they will have to just do the best they can.
Next meeting is March 22, 2010
