On May 8, 2010 the Natural Resources Board of Sebastian arrived at the Spoil Island IR1
project area, which is located in the Indian River Lagoon, to conduct a clean up of this active
recreational camping island.
We arrived at Main Street Boat Ramp at 9:OOam and handled paperwork and loaded the boat to
take us to Spoil Island IR1. The boat was provided by Captain, Dr. Keith Clark.
We had 6 volunteers, 4 board members, and 2 City staff in attendance to total 42 hours labor.
The group succeeded in removing 12 trash bags (x's 20 Ibs), plus a 60 Ib. plastic dock float for a
total of 300 pounds of garbage. The trash removed was taken to Gibson Street substation
where the trash was sorted for recyclables.
Field trip ended at approximately 12:30pm
