MEETING MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 26, 2011
The Sebastian Parks and Recreation Committee was called to order by the Chairman.
Roll Call was taken and the following members were present: Mr. Tenerowicz, Mrs.
White, Mrs. Webster, Mr. Scott, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Adams and Mr. Sims were Absent
excused.
Staff inembers present were Linda Kinchen, Secretary;
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mrs. Webster made a motion to approve the minutes from the August 29, 2011 meeting.
Second by Mr. Tenerowicz passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
EASY STREET LIGHTS:
Mr. Tenerowicz says don't like the solar lights because of their height prefer thelow
ground level ones
Mr. Simpson says only saw them at daytime
Mr. Scott only saw them at daytime
Mrs. White doesn't like — in fact is changing her mind about lights being put in at all
Mrs. Webster doesn't like the height
Can carry over to next meeting — send an email to Mr. Adams and Mr. Sims
Mr. Simpson says too tall doesn't like
Mr. Tenerowicz says prefers lights that are on a timer so they can be shut off
Mr. Simpson made a recommendation to send to council "While we like the concept of
solar lighting, we do not like the size of the lights and would like lights with timers and
recommend that their original recommendation to council be accepted."

PUBLIC INPUT:
Jim Sunnycalb — says the parks needs lights and feels it is not fair to kill the project
which is what he feels Mrs. White is doing because she doesn't like lights — lights are a
deterent to crime — Mrs. White says maybe we need to take a survey — Mr. Sunnycalb
says a survey was already taken and the residents want the lights.
Mr. Simpson says she is entitled to her opinion
Mr. Sunnycalb says can they get a measurement on the circle area at the twin piers.
The water fountain pressure is low at the dog fountain at Riverview
Says the movie in the park was a success but next time need to spray for mosquitos
would like to see a xmas movie — Polar express
He says animal control is giving tickets in the conservation area for dogs off the lease
also at the Stormwater park and Riverview park and thinks it is a good thing.
Reminded again that he would like to see the dog park rules on Channe125
CHAIRMANS MATTERS;
Speaks about Kayaks and Kristen still trying to get a hold of her.
Would like to see us pursue putting in a launch at the Stonecrop area
Would like to see a hedge or fence around the handicap playground behind the police
department so people don't have to look at the cars in the lot.
Mr. Tenerowicz agrees
Chairman asks Kevin Scott to take over the George Street and Barber Street parks since
they were Mr. VanArsdalls.
At the next meeting would like a park update by the committee.
Says Bike trail markers are non existent —
Mr. Simpson says spoke to the county Phil Matson and we need to get an overlay of their
proposals — shows a map with possibilities in the city of ineeting up with the county
trails. Chairmans asks to try to schedule Phil Matson for the next meeting.
Mrs. White asks Mr. Simpson to do a proposed map for Mr. Matson's discussion
She says will hold on having the letter box lady come to a meeting until we see if Mr.
Matson will come.

MEMBERS MATTERS:
Mr. Scott says he is involved with Family fun Day wanted to borrow golf carts but Greg
Gardner says no Secretary told him to contact Jim Davis at the County Public Works and
they may be able to loan them a gator which is like a golf cart but can carry stuff in the
back.
Mr. Simpson — Would like to see a little climbing wall or spider web ropes for the area at
the creative playground —maybe diggers or something if money is left over from the
canopy's use for play accessories — next meeting suggest we talk about buying the movie
equipment for movies in the park.
Mr. Tenerowicz — would still like to see the walking bridge across the ditch and what is
the hold up on the Schumann restrooms — says we need to watch what we are spending
Mr. Tenerowicz says a woman was at the council meeting about the Farmers Market.
Mrs. Webster — Having a movie at the ball fields around Halloween.
STAFF COMMENTS: - a resident has requested lights around the bathrooms at the
creative playground
Next meeting 10/24/11 6 PM
With no other business to come before the Parks and Recreation Committee, Mrs. White
declared the meeting adj ourned at 7:15 PM.
Approved ober 24, 2011 Regular Meeting.
