Present•
City of Sebastian Canvassing Board Members: Chairperson and City Clerk, Sally Maio; City Manager,
Terrence Moore; and City Attorney, Rich Stringer.
Other Officials Present:
Indian River County: Supervisor of Elections, Kay Clem; County Attorney; Chief Deputy Supervisor of
Elections, Diana Wright; and Absentee Ballot Coordinator; and other Supervisor of Elections Staff
members and Indian River County Sheriff's Deputies.
City of Vero Beach Canvassing Board Members: City Clerk, Tammy Vock; City Manager, Rex
Taylor; and City Attorney, Julie Schutta.
City of Fellsmere Canvassing Board: City Clerk, Deborah Krages; Mayor Bob Baker; and City
Attorney, Warren Dill.
Town of Indian River Shores Canvassing Board: Virginia Gilbert, Town Manager; and City Clerk.
Chairperson Maio called the Sebastian Canvassing Board meeting to order at 5 p.m.
Each Canvassing Board called its roll.
MOTION by Maio/Stringer
I move to approve the March 8, 2001 Canvassing Board Minutes.
VOICE VOTE CARRIED 3-0.
Canvassing board members were instructed that, following opening of absentee ballots, they would move
to the Supervisor of Elections office for a logic and accuracy test prior to ballot counting at approximately
6:45 p.m. Members were advised that one member of the Canvassing Board should remain in the
counting room once ballot counting began and that the other members should review the receiving and
inspecting process in Conference Room A.

Supervisor of Elections staff inember, Marge Trumble, explained absentee ballot procedures and
submitted a list of absentee ballots received for the City of Sebastian.
Absentee ballots were opened by Supervisor of Elections staff and opening was completed by 5:15 p.m.
Canvassing board members and staff members adjourned to the Supervisor of Elections office.
At 6:45 p.m., the Sebastian Canvassing Board certified to a Logic and Accuracy test. Absentee ballots
were counted at 7:00 p.m. and the count matched the number provided earlier to the Canvassing Board.
At the completion of the logic and accuracy and absentee ballot count, Mrs. Maio remained in the
counting room, and other members moved to the 1 st floor conference room to oversee inspection and
receiving teams.
The Canvassing Board certified to the results and adjourned following completion of certification.
