Dear Mayor Gillmor,
It was really great seeing and reading about the plans for Hurricane Harbor in the TC Palm
Newspaper on 6/30/2010. This piece of property is a wonderful community opportunity
waiting to happen.
As an architect, I have particular interest in Hurricane Harbor. We have done major
restoration work in the late 1980's and well into the mid 1990's on this property. After those
major restorations and successful restaurant efforts, we also added the wooden seawall to
help curb erosion. I was also very involved in restoring the building to help Hurricane
Harbor retain the character and charm that we all have enjoyed for so many years, while
nestled on the Indian River. We lost contact with the facility as eventually ownership and
management changes.
It is a great piece of property and one that as an architect, I would very much like to
become involved with it again. We have done many old building restorations. We are good
at bringing new visions to projects and we have a host of successful projects throughout
Indian River County, including the Sebastian area.
When buildings sit idle, they do deteriorate, those nearest water often deteriorate faster. As
they remain vacant, more times than not, these small problems become large problems.
If Hurricane Harbor is in a "wait and see" mode, it would be wise to do a good thorough
inspection and maintenance list in an effort to limit the deterioration that occurs while
vacant. I would love the opportunity to go over this and provide a list of the imminent items
that need immediate attention in an effort to provide all with a clear and concise list of items
that if taken care of now will we keep the building from further deterioration.

I am not sure who will be making the planning and architectural services decisions on this
project, but I would like to meet with you or any other interested parties in this venture.
As an architect, an avid fisherman, and a person concerned about preserving our river front
character, this is an exciting endeavor. If I can be of any help, please do not hesitate to call
me. If there is someone that you know of that is more involved that I could follow-up with, I
would appreciate your guidance and direction.
Sincere) ,
