Subject: Waterfronts Committee Applications - November 18, 2009 Reguar
Council—
I need to update you on a couple of issues regarding Waterfronts Committee applications.
As of the deadline of Friday, November 11th we had received only one application from Barbara
Salmon for the newly created resident at-large position.
This week two more applications were received. One of the applicants is not a resident so he is not
qualified. In the past when applications came in past a deadline, we brought them to Council and
Council decided whether or not to consider them. Typically Council has decided to consider late
applications.
A member of Council called today to ask what had happened to the applications from those who
applied for the resident at-large position when we first created the committee in June. It has been our
practice to bring forward all submitted unsuccessful applications for a particular position, as long as the
applications are not over one year old (this is a code provision—that we hold applications for a period
of one year). Those applications were not brought forward in the agenda packet for November 18th
We will provide copies of the five applications from the last round in June for resident at-large, as well
as a copy of one of the two applications which were received this week and Council can decide
whether they should be considered.
