The 1989 Florida Legislature passed Senate Bill 458 creating Sections 287.132 - 133, Florida Statutes, effective July 1, 1989. Lauderdale, FL 33309-6311 Dear Mr. Cole: This letter is in reference to the Main Street Baffle Box design (your job number 950091.12) that was prepared by your firm. The plans were approved by you on May 27, 1998. We are in construction now. During the installation of the box we have encountered a situation with the elevation of the box, in that a portion of the box is at the elevation of the road and will require either cutting the box or changing the elevation of the road by as much as 6 inches. Because the box location is so close to an intersection, the elevations of the cross street will need to be regraded, as well. It may be appropriate for you could look into this and advise us of a solution, as quickly as possible. Hopefully, this can be resolved without incurring a change order from the contractor.
