Any plastic material (A-2-6, A-2-7, A-4, A-5, A-6, A-7 and muck) within 36 inches of the finished grade shall be removed and replaced with A-3 material, 3. PAVING IMPROVEMENTS: A, Subgrade Subgrade shall. be compacted to 98% of maximum density as determined by AASHT❑ T-180, and stabitized to a minimum FBV of 75 PSI. Subgrade shalt be thoroughly rolled in its entirety with a pneumatic -tired roller before any field inspection is made. B. Concrete Pavement Concrete pavement surface course shall be fiber reinforced concrete with a 28 day compressive strength of 4,000 psi, Subgrade shall be moistened as required to provide a uniform dampened surface at the time concrete is placed. Contraction joints shall be constructed true to line with face perpendicular to surface of pavement, Joints shall be provided in both the longitudinal and transverse directions at a maximum spacing of 18 feet, Depth of contraction joints shall be no greater than 1/4 nor less than 1/5 of the pavement thickness. Contraction joints shall be formed by sawing, premolcled inserts or hand tool, Joints must be completed between four and eighteen hours after concrete has been placed. Expansion joints shall be placed between the proposed pavement and other rigid structures such as drainage inlets and existing concrete stabs, Expansion joints shalt be 1/2' wide and filled with a preformed expansion joint filter, conforming to AASHT❑ M-213, and a joint seating compound, conforming to AASHT❑ M-173. A construction join shall be used if concrete placement is interrupted long enough to cause a cold joint, If possible, the construction joint should be placed at the location of a planned contraction joint. The construction joint shall be formed by either a semicircular keyway 2' diameter or 14' long 6' dowels placed across the 12' on center, C. Concrete Finish Finish of concrete shall be a uniform, gritty, non -slip surface, broom finished with a coarse broom to provide a non-skid surface just before the water sheen disappears, No water shall be added to the surface to assist finishing operations. No steel trowel or other tools will be used to develop a slick surface, D. Concrete Curing Concrete shot( be cured by protecting it against loss of moisture and mechanical injury for at least three days after placement. Permits and Licenses: A water and wastewater permits shall be obtained by the Engineer -of -Record, for the Owner, Construction requirements of the project reflect constraints and conditions imposed by those permits. The Contractor shall perform all work and shall construct the project in accordance with those requirements. Additionally, the Contractor shall secure all other work permits, approvals or licenses required to perform the work, and he shall perform the work in accordance with those permits, approvals, or licenses. Reference To Ether Documents For brevity, reference may be made to other specifications or documents which will be used to specify or control the materials placed in the work, the construction methods to be used, the tolerances that will be acceptable, and contractual or legal obligations. Coordination of Work With Others; The Contractor shall coordinate his work with the work or improvements of others with regard to new construction, or for the need of removal, relocation or alteration of existing facilities, This includes, but is not limited to, Indian River County Utilities, Florida Power & Light Company, BellSouth, Adetphia Cable, other- utititie companies, and their contractors, subcontractors, or agents. E Power and Water All arrangements and costs for temporary power and water during construction shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. Observing the Work: At the election of the Owner, the progress and quality of the work may be observed by the Owner's Engineer or Engineer's appointed employee, No observer is authorized to change any provisions of the Specifications without written authorization of the Owner's Engineer, nor shall the presence nor absence of on observer relieve the Contractor from any requirements of the Drawings and Specifications, The Contractor shall give the Engineer a minimum of 48 hours notice prior to required inspections, and shall supply all equipment necessary to properly test and inspect the completed work, In addition to the inspection requirements stated in the Indian River County Specifications, the following minimum construction inspection checkpoints shall be adhered to, and the Contractor shall notify the Engineer for inspection, 1.
