In reply to your recent letter requesting a variance
to the zoning ordinance, there seems to be a slight
misunderstanding.
If, as you state in your letter, you intend to maintain
the existing building line in front. a violation of the
zoning ordinance has not been committed# and there Fore.
no variance would be required.
:'.owever, if it were your intentions to go eastvard of
the existing building lines then a variance to the zoning
ordinance would be required.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate

This letter is for the purpose of completing the information
needed for a change of variance) which was requested in a
letter of October 13, 1970- (correction of date, Nov. 17, 1970)
The change of variance needed is for a tower as shown in the
drawing submitted with letter.
We respectfully request a change of variance of 4' eastward
from the now existing building line.
This tower will be approximately 2'x3'x35' and has a very
important part of the architectural design and also that our
building may be easily located by those seeking our church
for worship as our location is now obscure because of other
/V existing buildings, power lines and poles.

Dear Sirs:
It is the desire of the First Baptist Church of Sebastian to build
an addition to the now existing church building.
Enclosed is a preliminary drawing showing the exislting building
and the prosed addition. The purpose of the addition is to allow
a side entrance so that we may enlarge the auditorium as well as
to beautify the whole church plant.
We feel that this will be beneficial to the city and the community
as well as the members.
But it has been pointed out to us that the city building code will r t.
not allow us to build this addition even with the now existing
building line.
If we are compelled to to set back according to this code it will
make the new entrance unpractical as well as unsightly.
We have no other direction in which to enlarge our auditorium .
Therefore we respectfully request a change of variance to allow us to bcj.
to build even with the now existing building and also to build a
tower as shown on the drawing.

Dear Mr. Betz:
In compliance with your request at the Variance Committee
Meeting of December 1, 1970, we the members of the Building Committee
of the First Baptist Church of Sebastian submit to your committee for
Its approval a request dor a change of variance for the purpose of
building a tower on the east side of our addition to the now existing
building.
The footer of the tower will extend east, four (4) feet from the
now existing building line. The tower will extend three (9) feet
east of the now existing building line making a set back on the footer
of one (1) foot.
The construction of the tower will comply with all existing
building codes and will also comply with the restriction for the power
lines, which we understand to be a space of at least eight (8) feet.
