HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022 Guidelines for Employees Confirmed to be COVID❑IYOF ET HOME OF PELICAN ISLAND UPDATED COVID-19 GUILDELINES FOR QUARANTINE AND RETURN TO WORK Effective: January 10, 2022 On Monday, December 27, 2021, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated their requirements regarding protocols and addressing exposure or a positive test result related to COVID-19. Guidelines for Emplovees Confirmed to be COVID-19 Positive Employees who receive a positive result must quarantine for five (5) days, regardless of vaccination status. Employees who receive a positive result may return to work: • After five (5) days if you have no symptoms for at least the past 24 hours. • Upon return to work, employee must wear a mask around others for an additional five days. • If an employee returns to work and is exhibiting symptoms, the employee may be sent home. Employees who are severely ill as a result of COVID-19 should seek immediate medical assistant and remain isolated for as long as directed by their healthcare provider. Medical authorization for extended absences may be required. Guidelines for Employees for Exposure to COVID-19 in Same Household Non -Vaccinated Emplovees • Quarantine for five (5) days. • Get tested five days after last exposure or immediately if symptoms develop. • Upon return to work, the employee must wear a mask for an additional five days. • If the employee returns to work and is exhibiting symptoms, the employee may be sent home. Asvmptomatic/Vaccinated Emplovees • Quarantine is not required. • Employees are recommended to wear a mask when around others for ten days after exposure. • Get tested immediately if symptoms develop. • If the employee is at work and exhibiting symptoms, the employee may be sent home. COVID-19 PREVENTION COVID-19 most commonly spreads between people who are in close contact through respiratory droplets or small particles produced when an infected person coughs, talks, or breathes. Growing evidence shows that droplets can remain suspended in the air and travel distances beyond six feet, according to the CDC. Indoor environments with poor ventilation increase the risk of transmission. To prevent infection and to slow transmission of COVID-19, do the following: • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol -based hand rub. • Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when in public settings or around others. • Maintain at least six feet distance between you and people coughing or sneezing. • Avoid touching your face. • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. • Stay home if you feel unwell. • Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs. • Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.
