A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE SEBASTIAN CITY
COUNCIL TO PARTICIPATE IN A JOINT MEETING WITH THE
INDIAN RIVER BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS
AND PLAN MATTERS OF MUTUAL INTEREST; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, City Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida and the Indian River County
Board of County Commissioners desire to participate in a joint meeting to discuss and plan
matters of mutual interest; and
WHEREAS, Section 166.0213, Florida Statutes, authorizes the governing body of a
municipality to hold joint meetings to receive, discuss, and act upon matters of mutual interest
with the governing body of the county within which the municipality is located or the governing
body of another municipality at such time and place as shall be prescribed by ordinance or
resolution; and
WHEREAS, Section 125.001, Florida Statutes, authorizes county boards to meet and
discuss matters of mutual interest with one or more adjacent county or municipality; and
WHEREAS, Sections 125.001 and Section 166.0213, Florida Statutes, further require
that the governing bodies of a county or municipality must first adopt an ordinance or resolution
authorizing participation in the joint meeting,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY
OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Recitals. The above "WHEREAS" clauses hereby adopted and
incorporated herein as true and correct findings of the City Council of the City of Sebastian.
Section 2. Authorization. Pursuant to Section 166.0213, Florida Statutes, the City
Council for the City of Sebastian is hereby authorized to participate in a joint meeting with the
Indian River County Board of County Commissioners on September 21, 2023 10:00 a.m., at the
North Indian River County Library located at 1001 Sebastian Blvd, Sebastian, Florida 32958.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
The foregoing Resolution was moved for adoption by Council Member
McPartlan . The motion was seconded by Council Member Dixon and, upon
put to a vote, the vote was as follows:

The Mayor thereupon declared this resolution duly passed and adopted this 13's day of
September, 2023.
